AN EMPTY NEST WINERY WEDDING | THE SNITKER’S

Weddings

As I sat in the airport terminal waiting for my flight to be called, I just prayed and prayed and prayed that the non stop rain at the beginning of the week hadn’t ruined the pretty fall colors back home in Iowa and the rain/snow in the forecast would stay at bay until at least Sunday. I was checking the radar right up until we took off knowing I wouldn’t get a good sense of what we were working with until I landed, only to land in a foggy, rain filled Minneapolis a bit later than expected. So I checked the radar religiously as Saturday drew closer, refreshing again and again and again until Saturday morning arrived. But all my worry faded away, when I woke up to sun streaming into my window. To say I was excited to see a clear sky without a storm cloud in sight was pretty amazing!

Nicholas and Sara’s wedding was such a peaceful, laid back day!! They were married at Empty Nest Winery, just down the road from our house, on a chilly but perfect fall day! The sun peeped out just long enough for us to capture the little bit of fall color we had left and I was just so thankful, because less than 24 hours later we had a gloomy, wet and snow filled day!

One of my favorite moments from the day, was when Nicholas turned around to see his soon to be wife during their first look. This is always one of my favorite moments of the day, yet this time was extra special for so many reasons. It was my first opportunity to capture such a special moment after experiencing it myself just a couple weeks before. It brought back all of the memories from our own wedding day and how the nerves of the morning just faded away when I saw the joy on Ethan’s face. Then to experience that same moment from the other side of the camera with my husband by my side as we watched his brother turn around to see his soon to be wife was just the cherry on top!

Nicholas and Sara, we love you so much. Your wedding day was more amazing than I could have ever imagined, and it was an HONOR to serve you and love you as your photographer! Ethan and I love you both and we can’t wait to see where this new journey as husband and wife leads you!
