Also known as the messy bun wearin’ blonde behind it all here at Megan Snitker Photography. I started this business fresh out of college when I realized the corporate ladder wasn’t for me. I’m obsessed with Bob Ross, my two pups (#ProudDogMom), vanilla ice cream, frozen margaritas & I firmly believe unicorn onesies should be the new business casual. My passions lie in telling stories and I am so excited to tell yours!
Shortly after college graduation, I got my first "big girl" job. I was one of the lucky ones who landed a job as a graphic designer straight out of college. I was so thankful, even though it was a lot closer to home than I had planned. So close in fact that I moved back in with my parents while I found a place to rent.
I loved what I was doing but soon I realized that a windowless cube wasn't the life for me. I craved a day where I could make my own schedule. I yearned for a career that would have enough variety that I wouldn't get bored. But mostly, I needed a job that would fill my heart with so much joy that I didn't dread waking up on Monday.
I didn't know what I was going to do, but I knew I couldn't keep living like this forever. And then I met a guy. Y'all this guy was like the feeling of fresh air entering your lungs after you held your breathe as long as possible underwater. He showed me how great the world could be if open my eyes. He inspired me to take the leap and go after what I wanted in my life!
So I started educating myself and learning everything I could about photography. I knew it was the one thing that truly brought me joy. I knew it wouldn't be easy. I knew people would judge me. I knew people would be hesitant to trust a new photographer, but I did it anyway.
I spent six straight months reading, learning and absorbing as much information as physically possible. Then I finally built up the nerve to put it out into the world! That first year was nerve-racking, stressful but more than anything BEYOND AMAZING!
Before every session, I was a bundle of nerves but I would leave with a heart so full it was impossible to ignore. There is never a day that goes by that I am not eternally grateful for those first few clients that trusted me when I first started out. Shoutout to my main girl, Danielle, for trusting someone who didn't even have a portfolio yet!
After that first year things really started to take off! We started booking wedding and filling our calendar, we started our Snitker Spokesmodel team, we got not one but two puppers and to wrap it all up, I got engaged to the guy that pushed me to go after my dreams.
Now, I'm a wedding and portrait photographer who lives just three minutes from her childhood home. I’m living a life fueled by a passion for helping others see themselves as I see them. And as if my job wasn’t awesome enough, I get to do this along side my husband (and our two pups)!!! So much of our story has led us to where we are today and for that I am eternally grateful.
My music choices could best be described as random but I don't discriminate when it comes to carpool karaoke! I can jam out to "Burnin Up" by the Jonas Brothers one minute and then belt out "Defying Gravity" from Wicked the next. But no road trip playlist is ever complete without a playing of the greatest song in existence, "Africa" by ToTo!
I shouldn't have to explain this one, but no one stands between a girl and her frozen strawberry margarita! After working a wedding, my favorite thing to do is find a Mexican restaurant and relax with my fav drink and a side of chips and salsa (or queso if my husband is tagging along).
I will hard pass on that piece of chocolate and make a beeline for any and all sour candy! I am on the hunt for the best sour candy the world has to offer. My current fav? Rips! And if the question is do you accept tips in the form of sour candy, the answer is most definitely YES!!!
Now I know what you are thinking...he passed away two years after I was born. But hear me out! He was and IS a legend. His passion for painting was undeniable and he shared it for all the world to see! My lifelong dream is to own an OG Bob Ross but for now I will settle for my Bob Ross Bobble Head.
There is nothing I love more than NOT wearing jeans. Make me dress up and you can bet on the fact that I am counting down the minutes until I can put on some shorts and a baggy T-shirt or if the season is right my favorite unicorn onesie!!! Because nothing says you are getting stuff done like a messy bun and sparkly unicorn tail!
