On Friday evening nestled amongst the rolling hills of northeast Iowa, we arrived at Hanover, the location of Jonathan and Clara’s intimate country wedding. The sun was pouring in through the large stain glass windows that decorated the church. The sweet sounds of birds in the trees flowed into the room creating a wonderful sense of calm. Then as the melody from the piano began to fill the air, everyone turned to the back of the church.
She made her way up the aisle in her mother’s wedding dress, a bright smile on her face. I turned and caught a quick glimpse of her mother in the front pew. She was no doubt remembering her own wedding, as her now husband walked their youngest daughter down the aisle. She watched as he gave her one last hug before taking his place beside her. The love and pride in their eyes was impossible to miss.
The church was silent as we listened intently as they promised to love each other for the rest of eternity. And as the piano played, they sealed their promises with a kiss and walked down the aisle, together, as husband and wife.
We had so much fun at Jonathan and Clara’s two day wedding celebration over the weekend! As I sat in the pews of Hanover Church just north of Waukon before the ceremony started, I couldn’t help but think about all of the memories that this place must hold and how Jonathan and Clara’s love story is now a part of the long list of legacies that have started in this church. They are two of the most caring and thoughtful people we have ever met and seeing how much they love each other, as well as the people around them, was the highlight of the entire weekend for us.
Jonathan and Clara, thank you for allowing us to capture the beginning of your legacy with both your engagement session and now your wedding. There was not a moment during those two days where your love for each other was not the focus. We wish you nothing short of a lifetime of happiness and we can’t wait to see how your love story unfolds as husband and wife!
