I can still remember the email I received from Megan last August asking me to photograph her wedding. Less than 48 hours had passed since Andrew had gotten down on one knee. They didn’t have a date, a venue or anything set in stone but they knew one thing: They were beyond excited to be engaged and to get married.

And exactly one year after Rylee (Megan’s dog) ran to her with a ring tied around her collar, these two made it official, surrounded by their family and friends at Patriots Hall in Waverly.

And while there are a lot of moments that stand out in my mind about this day, the feeling of family overpowers them all. When Megan and I first started talking about what she envisioned her day to be. Her first priority was family. And after experiencing her day and meeting a lot of them in person, I can say that is exactly what her day embodied.

Whether they were physically with us or looking down upon us, I felt the power of these families.

On multiple occasions, we were thanking Megan and Andrew’s guardian angels for the beautiful cloud cover, the lack of rain and the much needed breeze at times. But I also felt the power of a family’s bond in the little moments too. Like the quiet tears of onlookers as the bride did her first looks. Or the simple smiles from one mother to another as they wait for their children to say, “I Do.” It was the sheer multitude of times family members offered to help in any way they could throughout the day, from helping me with family formals to making sure everyone had food and something to drink.

Megan and Andrew, I was so honored when you asked me to capture your special day. But I want to especially thank you AND your families for making me feel so welcomed and accepted into your lives. It’s not lost on me how truly rare it is to be surrounded by such amazing individuals on all fronts. I hope you all love reliving this day through my eyes. It was filled with so many beautiful and intentional moments and I am thrilled to share it with you.
