Hearing our couple’s love story is one of my favorite things! So one of the first things we ALWAYS ask is for them to tell us that story. For me, it tells me a lot about who they are and what they value on their wedding day. But it also helps to start building the friendship we cherish with our couples. Which is why when we met up with Collin and Lexey at St Feriole Island in Prairie du Chien, it felt like we have known each other for ages. When in reality, we have just been emailing and stalking each other on social media for months! (Side note, you seriously need to follow their pups on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kobe_shaq2.0/) But back to the story!

One of the best things I EVER did was write down my thoughts and feelings after Ethan proposed. Because even just a few months later, it is so easy to forget the little details. Or when the stress of wedding planning starts, you forget that initial excitement of being engaged.

So in her own words, this is their story:

So on a Friday night my mom texted me and asked me what Collin and I were doing on Saturday and if we wanted to play darts at a local bar back in my hometown. I was like heck ya I’ll play some darts. When we showed up, my parents were sitting at the bar waiting for us and I noticed the room that you play darts in was closed. As we walked over to the room, I knew something was happening. You know that feeling you get? Well I got that feeling! Our families were there and it was honestly just so sweet. He wrote down what he was going to say to me on a piece of paper and gave it to me after he proposed. It is now framed and in our bedroom as a reminder for us!

Isn’t that the sweetest thing?!? In a year where social distancing has now become the norm, I love that they were able to celebrate surrounded by family. And can we make it a mandatory thing that anyone getting ready to propose has to pen their words so that we can remember them forever?!? Because the fact that they can look at his words every day as a reminder of their love for each other is amazing.

Collin and Lexey, I am so excited for your wedding next summer! Meeting up with you on St Feriole Island was honestly such a blast. And I can’t wait to celebrate you and your love again next year!!!
