She waited patiently, just out of sight, for the moment he would come into view. Her ears listening for the faint sounds of his footsteps as he slowly made his way to her. He rounded the corner and there he was, dressed in a black tux with matching bow tie. His eyes focused straight ahead, not daring to take a glance at the views surrounding him. Now it was his turn to wait and listen to his bride make her way up the stone stairway. Each step bringing her closer to him. Closer to the moment he had been anticipating all morning. The moment he would get to turn around and see his soon-to-be wife.
He could hear her now, just steps away, her veil softly blowing in the breeze. The excitement building as he waited to hear her say his name. And there it was. Her voice was filled with excitement and joy. Finally, the time had come.
Nolan & Kate’s Downtown Iowa City wedding was everything we could have hoped for and more. The weather was something out of a fairy tale. No really! Since when does Iowa spring weather ever cooperate? It was sunny with a slight breeze. And the rain held off until late into the night! The details looked as if they popped straight off the pages of Pinterest! I walked into the reception and my little photographer’s heart was jumping for joy. From the rose gold table candle votives to the cakes set at each table, I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite detail.
As I stood in the church listening to their hand written vows, something compelled me to look to the first row of pews. There sat the parents hanging onto every word. There were smiles and there were laughs but more than anything there was love. A love between two people as they watched with knowing eyes as their son and daughter married their best friend. They looked on, no doubt remembering their own vows and the commitment they had made to each other. Their legacy of love is why we were all here. It was because of the love they shared and passed onto their children that we were able to witness Nolan and Kate start their own journey together as husband and wife.
Nolan and Kate, it was such an honor to be able to capture the start of your legacy of love. It truly was such a beautiful day but the love you two share outshone it all. We wish you nothing but a lifetime of happiness as you start your newest adventure, together, as husband and wife. I hope you look back on these pictures for years to come and remember all of the amazing moments that was your Downtown Iowa City Wedding day.
