The forecast was grim. Just three days before Jonathan and Clara’s engagement session, we had record setting cold temperatures with wind chill hitting close to -50 degrees! I figured there was no way we would be having an outdoor session come Saturday, but we held off hoping the weather channel was telling the truth and that it would all pass in time. Thankfully that is exactly what happened! The cold front passed and Saturday was an absolute dream. It may have been a tad foggy with a chance of rain later in the day, but we didn’t care! We were just happy we didn’t have to reschedule and possible miss our opportunity for the pretty winter engagement session we had planned.
Jonathan and Clara are a beautiful couple both inside and out. Not only are they natural in front of the camera but they are incredibly genuine and kind. I have no doubt that even if the weather had been different and we had been capturing their session in the midst of a polar vortex, these two would have been joyful. I don’t think there was a second that went by that there wasn’t a smile on their faces, which is saying a lot as we were tromping our way through snow drifts to get to the perfect location.
Jonathan and Clara, thank you so much for making the drive back to northeast Iowa for your session and for making Saturday such a dream. It was an honor to be a part of your engagement session, but it will also be such an honor to be a part of your wedding day! It will be here before we know it and we can’t wait!
